Test 1
Thermal propagation
Single cell forced into thermal runaway. Pack must contain the failure for 5+ minutes before any external sign — no fire, no smoke. Phase 2 made this stricter than Phase 1.
India's mandatory safety standard for EV battery packs. Below: the four tests that matter, what they actually measure, and where Kinetra packs land.
The four tests
Test 1
Single cell forced into thermal runaway. Pack must contain the failure for 5+ minutes before any external sign — no fire, no smoke. Phase 2 made this stricter than Phase 1.
Test 2
BMS must disconnect at 1.2× nominal voltage and prevent reverse current. Tested at multiple ambient temps.
Test 3
210 cycles of vibration profile per IEC 62660-2. Pack must retain >90% capacity after.
Test 4
50G shock 3 axes. IP67 immersion (1m for 30 min). Salt spray for coastal use.

FAQ
Phase 2 has been the active standard for new vehicle approvals since October 2022. Any battery pack going into a new EV homologation in India must comply.
Phase 2 added stricter thermal propagation requirements (5+ minute containment vs Phase 1's shorter window), updated overcharge protection thresholds, and aligned with the international AIS 038 Rev 2 framework.
Yes. All current Kinetra production packs (LFP and NMC, 2W and 3W) have completed Phase 2 testing at ARAI-approved labs. Test certificates are available on request via the datasheet form.
For OEM custom packs, yes — we provide the cell + structure, you provide BMS. We'll qualify the integration through joint testing. For standard SKUs, the BMS is integrated and certified together.
Certificates are valid for 3 years from issue. Re-testing required if cell chemistry, BMS firmware, or pack mechanical design changes materially.
